star·board & port ˈstär-bərd & ˈpȯrt 1: a nautical term referring to the left and right sides of a waterborne vessel.
2: S&P is driven through George’s attention to detail and precision in conjunction with Chase’s creative visualization and communication.
Starboard & Port was born on a sandy beach in New Jersey when two creatives came together through their fondness of travel and photography. With a clink of a bourbon glass, they headed out West to plant roots in Springfield, Missouri. The foundation of S&P is simple; innovators perfecting their craft while creating remarkable images. With over 20 years combined experience stretching from the Atlantic and Pacific, both Co-Captains of Starboard & Port bring something unique to the table.
George is a farm raised Oklahoma native who decided to trade in his business background and venture to Denver, Colorado to pursue a photography degree at AIC. After a few years in the Rockies, the wind took him out East working as a Staff Photographer and High End Retoucher for Macy’s in New York City. Life in the Big Apple soon turned into pursuing his own dream of launching a creative company with fellow East Coaster, and Starboard & Port Co-Captain, Chase Heilman. After hours, George prefers life on two wheels cycling and enjoying the open road.
➤ Happy Place: Relaxing in the mountains with my dog and some rye whiskey.
Chase hails from Springfield down in the rolling green Ozarks of Missouri. Classically trained in photography at AIC in Denver, he soon shipped out to Baltimore to follow his dream of photographing yachts and sailboats. Salt and sea fared well, as the current took him abroad shooting internationally voyaging from country to country. It was on the coast talking shop with fellow AIC Alum, George Ferris, that Starboard & Port was formed. In his down time, you can find him floating on the rivers, camping, and enjoying rare scotch.
➤ Happy Place: Driving my '96 Subaru across country.
Nima is a rescue pup from Denver whose personality is as big as her bark. When she’s off the clock, you can find her hiking in the Ozarks, chasing geese at the lake, or napping in the sunshine.
